IPL or Indian Political League?

IPL or Indian Political League?<br/>

The shifting of IPL venue from India has bloggers reacting. Most of them are fuming with anger over the shifting of the venue, with their anger targeted at the organisers and the politics being played in the name of cricket.
Is the fact that there's an election in April good enough reason to say security cannot be guaranteed for players and spectators, asks blogger World Have Your Say.u00a0

"Some people highight America's reaction to 9/11. Would the World Series have been cancelled? Or in the UK after 7/7, would that summer's big cricket matches have been cancelled? In both cases there were no cancellations," says the blogger.

"India is a vast country with significant resources. Would it have sent a stronger message to Islamist radicals who carried out attacks in Mumbai and Islamabad, if the Indian government had said the IPL will go ahead whatever it takes? Is frustration that these attacks are allowed to have such an influence justified, or is this sensible decision making at a dangerous time?" asks the blogger.

According to blogger Aramkoolu00a0the seriousness of the security issue raised only after "the Mumbai 26/11 attack made by the terrorists which caused the rage waves in International side."

"Indian Elections seem to have won the battle against Cricket and BCCI has decided to hold IPL matches either in South Africa or England. The event will primarily be a TV event and the direct connect of Indians with the IPL cricket stands snapped, or is it still live and kicking," adds the blogger.

"Enough of hype and hoolah around IPL," proclaims blogger Natraj.u00a0

"What started out as a innovation in cricket , at the culmination of its first league turned out to be an entertainment gamble which paid off money in millions to the organizers and players. It sparked off war of words between the franchise owners over the selection of players. Then it metamorphosed into a dream to play for, even among prominent international cricketers," he says.u00a0

He is scathing in his attack on the IPL organisers. "It is nothing but the arrogance of the organizers and the BCCI to be stressing upon having the event amidst such security crunch. In fact, IPL has now become the Indian "Political" league. With politicians reaping out benefits from each and every leaf that falls from a tree, this is like a boon."

"They have started throwing stones at each other. Statements like moving out IPL out of India are a National shame is exaggeration. After all this is just a game and that too not something like an Olympics or a commonwealth games," he adds.

He feels that IPL should wait for the other big game, the politicians game to finish off and then begin somewhere in October "when the weather will be ideal for playing in India and be the true Indian Premier league."

"The BCCI has finally discovered what millions of Indians had discovered long back u2013 Foreign land," says blogger Rakesh.u00a0

"With its announcement that it will be shifting the IPL outside India, the BCCI has done what a large numbers of NRIs have done u2013 run away from the lethargy, the red tape, the politics and the corruption that is fast becoming the bane of India. What this means is that the staunchest Indian fan would have to suffice by watching the matches on Television with an ad break every 3 and half minutes while NRIs would lounge in a half empty stadiums sunbathing and drinking beer while watching the best of cricket in their own backyards," he adds.

"The general feeling is that cricket has become a casualty in the battle between the all powerful government and the cash rich BCCI. There are also some people, who see this development as a systematic failure reeking of poor quality of governance," says this blogger.
